Ross McQuinn

Ross has an easygoing nature. He didn’t mind when I asked him to shift places—even when I tried to photograph him through the opening of a wall made of glass tubes. That openness, I think, is part of what fuels his creativity.

Today, Ross is a partner in two of Canberra’s most celebrated restaurants: Pilot and Such and Such, the latter sitting just across from the ACT Legislative Assembly. His story is refreshingly down-to-earth. He began with the most ordinary of jobs in restaurants, discovered a passion for the industry, and gradually turned that passion into a career. Together with close friends he grew up alongside, Ross helped shape dining spaces that are now considered landmarks in the city’s culinary scene.
